Raptors’ Murray-Boyles ruled out vs. Pacers with left thumb sprain

The Toronto Raptors’ rising star is dealing with a troublesome thumb injury again.
Collin Murray-Boyles exited Toronto’s game against the Indiana Pacers on Sunday after reaggravating a left thumb sprain and the team later announced that he would not return.
The 20-year-old rookie initially sustained an injury to the thumb on Dec. 15 against the Miami Heat. Then Murray-Boyles missed four games in late January after Lakers guard Luka Doncic whacked his left thumb while going for a steal.
Murray-Boyles is averaging eight points, 5.1 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.8 steals plus blocks over 42 games for the Raptors this season. He was named to the NBA Rising Stars Team ahead of the upcoming all-star weekend on Jan. 27.
It was unclear what caused Murray-Boyles to exit against the Pacers.
Selected ninth overall in the 2025 NBA Draft, Murray-Boyles has been instrumental to the Raptors maintaining an effective frontcourt in the absence of starting centre Jakob Poeltl.
Toronto acquired centre Trayce Jackson-Davis from the Golden State Warriors at the trade deadline, who now stands to see greater opportunity with Murray-Boyles out.
