Chicken Shop Date’s Amelia Dimoldenberg to Star in, Produce Rom-Com

“Chicken Shop Date” creator and host Amelia Dimoldenberg is developing a romantic comedy for Amazon MGM Studios’ Orion Pictures.
Dimoldenberg will star as a by-the-book journalist whose carefully planned life unravels when a routine celebrity interview unexpectedly turns into a romance that makes her question everything she believes about love. Gloria Sanchez Productions, the company behind “Booksmart” and “Will & Harper,” will produce the film with Dimoldenberg. Sarah Heyward will write the script.
Dimoldenberg has built a massive global following through her popular celebrity interview series, “Chicken Shop Date,” in which she awkwardly — and charmingly — grills A-listers like Jennifer Lawrence and Charli xcx while eating at London fried chicken joints. The series is commissioned under her own production company, Dimz, Inc, which is also behind her newest original series, “Passenger Princess.” In recent years, she has been honored on various stages, including the Streamys and the Webbys. She has served as the red carpet correspondent for the Academy Awards for two consecutive years and is set to return for a third this March. Last August, Dimoldenberg launched Dimz, Inc. Academy, a program which aims to ensure young people from all backgrounds have access to the creative media industries.
Heyward is writing another film for Netflix and Elizabeth Cantillon and adapted Emily Henry’s “Book Lovers” for Tango Entertainment. On the TV side, she is currently writing “Sweet Valley High” for Netflix with Chernin, Fake Empire and CBS Studios producing and is currently a co-executive producer on season three of “Nobody Wants This” for Netflix. She previously worked on HBO’s “Girls” from the first episode through the last.
Gloria Sanchez Productions is led by Jessica Elbaum and Will Ferrell. Most recently, Gloria Sanchez produced Nicholas Stoller’s “You’re Cordially Invited” for Amazon, starring Ferrell and Reese Witherspoon, as well as Stoller’s upcoming feature “Judgment Day,” which will team Ferrell and Zac Efron for Amazon. The company is currently in production on “The Fifth Wheel” for Netflix, directed by Eva Longoria and starring Kim Kardashian, Nikki Glaser, Fortune Feimster and Brenda Song. On the TV side, Gloria Sanchez backed the Emmy-nominated show “Dead to Me,” starring Christina Applegate, Linda Cardelini and James Marsden.
Heyward is represented by UTA and JSSK. Dimoldenberg is represented by Three Six Zero Group, CAA, SSM&L and The Sully Partnership.
