US labor market showed an unexpected boost in January

U.S. employers added 130,000 jobs in January, as a sluggish labor market showed new signs of life early in the year. The unemployment rate ticked down to 4.3 percent.

The report from the Labor Department, which was delayed because of the partial federal government shutdown last week, features January data as well as revisions to employment gains.
