LIVE: Court hearing on Trinidad Chambliss’ future at Ole Miss taking place

PITTSBORO, Miss. (WLBT) – The future of Trinidad Chambliss’ future as a quarterback at Ole Miss is taking place Thursday at a courtroom in Pittsboro, Mississippi.

The courtroom battle began after Chambliss sued the NCAA in January after he was denied a sixth year of eligibility.

The core arguments in the suit rest upon documented medical challenges Chambliss has faced for years.

The suit outlines a series of medical complications that kept him off the field dating back to 2017, when he was exposed to the Epstein-Barr virus and contracted mononucleosis.

Chambliss’ legal team argues the NCAA’s denial of his waiver request was a “bad-faith, unreasonable, and arbitrary decision,” and claims he would suffer irreparable financial harm without an additional year of eligibility.

The court is back in session.
