‘Spider-Noir’ Trailer Sees Nic Cage Slinging Webs and Fighting Crime in 1930s New York

Nicolas Cage is Spider-Noir this May in a Spider-Man adventure like no other. A Prime Original, the new live-action Marvel series has released the “Authentic Black and White” trailer for the series along with a “true hue” color version, both of which you can watch below.
Spider-Noir is an eight-part series based on Marvel’s Spider-Man Noir comics, and sees Cage playing Ben Reilly, a down-on-his-luck private investigator working in 1930s New York City, but struggling to cope with his past life, and a deeply personal tragedy, from being the city’s one and only superhero.
Cage, a long-time comic book fan himself, first voiced this character in the lauded Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and briefly returned for the sequel, Across the Spider-Verse. As well as having a much larger role in the long-delayed threequel, Beyond the Spider-Verse, the former Ghost Rider actor has now found himself heading up his own live-action project based on the character and the trailers appear to prove that Cage’s live-action comic book return has been well worth it.
Alongside Cage, the full cast includes Emmy Award®-winning actor Lamorne Morris (Fargo, New Girl)), Li Jun Li (Sinners, Babylon), Karen Rodriguez (The Hunting Wives, Acapulco), Abraham Popoola (Atlas, Slow Horses), Jack Huston (Boardwalk Empire, Day of The Fight), and Brendan Gleeson (The Banshees of Inisherin, Harry Potter). Guest stars includes Lukas Haas, Cameron Britton, Cary Christopher, Michael Kostroff, Scott MacArthur, Joe Massingill, Whitney Rice, Amanda Schull, Andrew Caldwell, Amy Aquino, Andrew Robinson, and Kai Caster.
‘Spider-Noir’ Releases in 2026
Spider-Noir will debut domestically on MGM+’s linear broadcast channel on May 25, 2026, with the whole series then dropping on Prime Video on May 27. This will allow fans to binge their way through all episodes, and it is clear there are a lot that will be doing just that. While the idea of Cage playing Spider-Man was originally one that made many question what they were reading, the new trailers prove that the enigmatic actor could have landed a perfect role playing Ben Reilly in Spider-Noir.
As well as the all-star cast, the series also has the look and feel of a classic film noir, with tilted camera angles and lighting making the series look and feel like Humphrey Bogart is about to walk through the door at any minute. This, along with the release of a black and white and color version, is something that Marvel Studios did to great effect with Werewolf by Night. One of the most popular stand-alone releases of the MCU, the old Universal Horror movie vibe was played to full effect in the special presentation. Now, Spider-Noir could well be the next great throwback we never knew we needed.
Cage will also return as the animated version of his character in Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. The third and final entry in the groundbreaking trilogy has been through a troubled production, but is expected to now arrive on Jun. 18, 2027.
