Billy Ocean has announced a number of Irish shows. Set to take place at Derry’s Millennium Forum on September 13, Belfast’s Waterfront Hall on September 14, and Dublin’s National Stadium on September 16 and 17.
The Grammy award-winning reggae singer got his first break when he signed to GTO records in 1978, which he released ‘Love Really Hurts Without You’ with, reaching number two in the UK charts and number twelve in the US.
Ocean performed on the American leg of Live Aid in 1985. A year later, he released ‘When the Going Gets Tough, The Tough Get Going’, which became the theme song for the adventure comedy film ‘Jewel of the Nile’, starring Michael Douglas, Kathleen Turner, and Danny Devito.
Elsewhere, he opened for Tom Jones and Nile Rogers at their St Anne’s Park show in June of 2024, where he performed his biggest hits ‘Red Light Spells Danger’, ‘When The Going Gets Tough, The Tough Get Goin’, and the Grammy Award-winning ‘Caribbean Queen (No More Love On The Run)’.
He also made an appearance at Dublin’s Rewind Festival on June 1, 2025. This May, he will kick off his UK summer tour, with Marti Pellow as special guest.
Tickets for Ocean’s Ireland gigs will go on sale on Friday, February 20 at 10AM via Ticketmaster.
