Lindsey Vonn provides latest update from her hospital bed: ‘Finally feeling more like myself, have a long way to go’

On Friday, Lindsey Vonn (USA) took to social media to share the latest on her physical condition.
“I wanted to give a little update and say thank you so much to everyone that has been sending me flowers and letters and shark stuffed animals. It’s just been so amazing and really helped me a lot. It’s been quite a hard few days in the hospital here.”
The message, which she delivered in a self-recorded video, showed Vonn sitting in a hospital bed.
It was the first time the 41-year-old had addressed fans on camera since crashing at the 2026 Winter Olympic downhill event in Cortina on Sunday.
“I have a long, long way to go,” she continued. “Tomorrow I’ll have another surgery, and hopefully that goes well, and then I can potentially leave and go back home. At which point I will need another surgery. I don’t know exactly what that entails yet until I get some better imaging, but that’s kind of where I’m at right now.”
As of this writing, Vonn has undergone three surgeries to repair a complex tibia fracture. Her upcoming surgery on Saturday and the additional one to follow when she’s back in the States would equal five total.
“That’s kind of where I am right now. I am just in this hospital, very much immobile, but I have a lot of friends and family that have been coming to visit.
“Like I said, the letters and the notes and everything, the flowers have just been so incredible. And the staff and the medical team here has been amazing. So I feel very lucky and fortunate to have so many people around me that have really helped me get through this.
“I just want to say ‘thank you’ and ‘go Team USA.’ It’s been so great to watch and it’s really lifted my spirits. So good job team and keep crushing it. Check in with you guys when I’m home.”
