ARCA Menards is more than just a NASCAR feeder league. Over the years, it has become a proving ground for ambitious new drivers, but also an place to try the latest concepts in stock car racing.

This year’s General Tire 200 is shaping up to be one of the most intriguing openers in recent memory. With 50 cars going after just 40 starting spots, the energy in the garage is already electric, and everyone knows simply making the field is half the battle.

One of the biggest storylines heading into the weekend is the dawn of the Nitro Motorsports era. Venturini Motorsports may have closed its doors at the end of 2025, but Nitro is wasting no time embracing its role as the heir apparent. They’re rolling in with a six‑car armada—Isabella Robusto, Thomas Annunziata, Jake Finch, Jake Bollman, Wesley Slimp, and 2024 race winner Gus Dean, who each have a legitimate shot to contend.

They won’t be alone at the front. Pinnacle Racing Group is fresh off a Daytona win with Brenden “Butterbean” Queen last year, and while Queen isn’t in the field this time, PRG still looks strong with Jack Wood and Taylor Reimer in its lineup.

Then there’s Joe Gibbs Racing, which has surprisingly never won an ARCA race at Daytona. Gio Ruggiero will take his shot at changing that in the No. 18 Toyota. He already proved he can win on drafting tracks during his Talladega Truck Series win last season, and he’ll be eager to translate that success here.

Add in the usual Daytona unpredictability, the massive draft packs, and the tight squeeze to qualify, and you’ve got all the ingredients for a chaotic, compelling season opener.
