Winter Olympics 2026: Reigning champions Sui Wenjing and Han Cong make return to Olympic ice after three years away

Sui Wenjing and Han Cong: “We had a really short timeline”
But the return is personal for the veteran figure skating team, marking their third Olympic Games.
“We had a really short time[line], only eight months… half a year since we started skating together,” Sui said of their truncated timeline. “We needed to recover all of our power and energy, and all of the technical [elements], too.”
She continued: “Actually, I think we need one more year and I think we would be great. But right now, we really want to enjoy the competition.”
They were silver medallists at PyeongChang 2018 before winning the gold in 2022. They also have a pair of world titles, coming in 2017 and 2019.
Did they come to make a push at the podium?
“At the Olympic Games, you want to win the gold medal,” Han said. “Now, for us, we need to have a big step. This is a competition, and a competition is a mystery. What happens this Olympics… we just want to enjoy and show our best at this Olympics. That’s our goal.”
