The City of Kelowna, Kelowna Art Gallery, Okanagan Heritage Museum, and Rotary Centre for the Arts are all offering events for Family Day.
MNP place, located at 4105 Gordon Drive, will host activities including a Park & Play bouncy castle, active games and try-it sports scavenger hunt, and ice skating (bring your own helmet).
It runs from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and admissions are free. Donations to Central Okanagan Search and Rescue will be accepted.
In addition, the BC Summer Games will have a booth set-up as it looks for volunteers for the upcoming event taking place in Kelowna.
The Kelowna Art Gallery will offer a variety of art exhibitions. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., families can explore artworks across four gallery spaces.
“Feel small next to the giant 9-feet-tall paintings in Floor Opener by Lawrence Paul Yuxweluptun Lets’lo:tseltun. Or view the big action-style photographs of Rita Leistner that capture tree planters working in remote areas of British Columbia in The Tree Planters,” reads the release.
Additionally, visitors can explore food heritage through Stir the Pot, which is a hands-on, family-friendly activity inspired by shared food, family recipes, and cooking traditions guided by staff. Space is limited and it is recommended to secure a table through pre-registration.
Art Lab is a self-guided activity, in which participants can go at their own pace and create using materials provided.
Families can make a day out of all the activities listed with the Family Day passport which lets them collect passport stamps and enter for a chance to win a gift basket. Passports are available at the gallery, Okanagan Heritage Museum, or Rotary Centre for the Arts.
