Could we see snow in Portland? Snow levels drop this week

KATU’s Storm Tracker 2 Weather Alert is being extended through Thursday as we prepare for snow in the foothills and Cascades, but also a chance in Portland. But what could this look like?

WEATHER | Latest Storm Tracker 2 Forecast

Some models show snow levels will vary between 500ft and 1,000ft in the Willamette Valley on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday morning, but will stay above 1,000ft in the afternoons.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for areas above 1,000ft.

Here in Portland, where our elevation is near sea level, we could see some snow in the air, but accumulation is unlikely.

However, for cities on the Valley floor (including Portland), snow could be pushed all the way down if we get a heavy shower, but it’s not likely to stick.

For elevations above 500ft, a dusting is possible, but any snow that does stick should quickly melt away since temperatures are above freezing.
