Winter Olympics 2026: Megan Oldham tops women’s freeski big air qualification – daily results

Milano Cortina 2026 – Oldham feels weight off shoulders ahead of big air final

Five days have passed since Oldham achieved her goal of claiming an Olympic medal, when she reached the podium in the freeski slopestyle final alongside Gremaud and Gu.

There is no doubt that the Canadian has gained vital confidence from her bronze medal, as well as feeling freer for the rest of her second Olympic Games.

“Coming off the bronze, that was a good relief for me to get that dream of the Olympic medal out of the way and push that pressure aside,” Oldham explained. “Now I’ll carry some of that momentum into the big air final. I love this event so much and I have some big tricks to show, so I’m really hungry to get back up on the steps.”

She continued in reference to the pressure: “For sure it’s subsided a little, because my big goal of the Olympics was walking away with a medal. I would say I’m just as hungry to still be up there. I’m really proud of myself for letting that one clean and then landing my third jump under pressure.”

The eight-time X Games medallist finished fourth in the big air final at Beijing 2022, falling 4.50 points short of what would have been a first Olympic medal. Oldham now goes into her third Olympic final, already an Olympic medallist and determined ready to push on for more.

“All those girls, they’re riding so well,” she said of her gold medal challengers. “I’m sure we’re going to see some bigger tricks and finals. I’m just going to try to focus on the tricks that I want to do, try to visualise that as much as I can, so when it comes time, I can land them under pressure.”
