Winter Olympics 2026 live updates: Latest as USA’s Meyers Taylor wins gold; China’s Gu silver, plus figure skating on Day 10

We’re getting closer and closer to the final runs for monobob.

Much has been made about this new Cortina track, which Olympic organizers rushed to finish before the 2026 Games started.

Kaillie Humphries has the distinction of being the only sliding athlete to race on both the old and new Cortina track.

Humphries said the old Cortina track was “arguably one of the hardest tracks in the entire circuit” and that “a lot of people did not walk away from that track.”

But learning on that track early in her career, she said, helped make her a better driver (Humphries is widely considered the best pilot in the world, and the best women’s bobsledder in the sport’s history).

This new track presents its own challenges.

“The first two turns are some of the most technically difficult, hard to come through, more specifically in monobob which is different compared to most tracks,” she said.

“Monobob is usually easier because it just turns on a dime and flips around but in these (Cortina) corners it literally whips around, and you kinda fishtail … it will definitely make a difference in the result with how you drive those corners.”
