The recent success has coincided with improved offensive efficiency, as Syracuse has shot nearly 50 percent from the field during the two-game stretch. Senior Nate Kingz has been instrumental, scoring 27 points against California before delivering the game-winning layup against SMU. Kingz leads Syracuse with 51 three-pointers this season.
Sophomore Donnie Freeman paces the Orange in scoring with a 17.6 points per game average. He contributed 18 points and a career-high four blocks against SMU. Freshman Kiyan Anthony sparked the comeback against SMU with 13 second-half points, while junior Naithan George distributed 16 assists across the two victories. Senior William Kyle III ranks tied for third nationally with 69 blocked shots.
Duke presents a formidable challenge as the Blue Devils sit atop the ACC standings with a 23-2 overall record and 12-1 conference mark. The Blue Devils rank third nationally in scoring defense, allowing just 63.1 points per game while averaging 82.2 points offensively.
After North Carolina ended Duke’s 10-game ACC winning streak, the Blue Devils responded with victories over Pittsburgh and Clemson. Freshman Cameron Boozer leads both Duke and the ACC in scoring, averaging 22.8 points along with 9.9 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game. Sophomore Isaiah Evans adds 14.4 points per contest and has made a team-best 62 three-pointers.
Duke holds a 17-6 advantage in the all-time series between the programs, which will meet for the 24th time Monday.
