More than 20,000 peanut butter products recalled across 40 states, including Wisconsin

(WBAY) – More than 20,000 peanut butter products face recall across 40 states, including Wisconsin and Illinois, after a company discovered plastic contamination.

Ventura Foods initiated the recall after finding pieces of blue plastic in a filter during production. The recall affects both peanut butter packets and small cups containing peanut butter and jelly. For a list of products recalled, click here.

The FDA designated the recall as Class II, meaning the contaminated products could cause temporary illness but are unlikely to result in serious or life-threatening health problems.

Consumers who purchased these products should check their pantries immediately and discard any affected items.
