KATU remains in a Storm Tracker 2 Weather Alert for lowering snow levels across the region and snow piling up in the Cascades.

Snow was accumulating at Government Camp on Highway 26 this morning. Another one to two inches is expected to fall throughout today.

As of this morning, both Timberline and Mt. Hood Meadows had received six inches of snow. Ski Bowl, at Government Camp, got one inch at the base and three inches at the top of their ski area.

After a warm front moves through the region this morning, we will see colder air aloft move in, with plenty of showers and a possible thunderstorm along the Oregon Coast.

“The door is now open for colder air to sit over the Pacific Northwest, so cold it drops the snow level to 500 feet as early as tonight,” Storm Tracker 2 Meteorologist Rhonda Shelby said.

High temperatures today will top out in the mid-40s.

“Any heavy shower could send the snow level to the valley floor, but any accumulation is unlikely,” said Storm Tracker 2 Digital Meteorologist Bobby Corser. “If you live above 500 feet elevation, a dusting of snow if possible.”
