AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) – Some Texas Panhandle schools are announcing closures for Tuesday ahead of potential power shutoffs due to wildfire threats.
Xcel Energy announced a planned public safety power shutoff (PSPS) was likely for over a dozen Panhandle counties for Tuesday, Feb. 17.
The PSPS is planned to reduce wildfire risk due to high winds, low humidity, and dry fuel.
