Morrison ready to battle after well-earned rest day

Rebecca Morrison has vowed to come out fighting after Team GB fell to a 10-6 defeat to Switzerland to leave their women’s curling campaign on the ropes.

A tight affair was decided by a crucial ninth end, with Switzerland scoring four points to wrap up the match in one go.

That came after Team Morrison had earlier beaten Denmark 7-2 for their second win of the competition.

With the loss to the Swiss, the World Championship silver medallists, Team GB now have two wins and four losses from their six matches.

That leaves them with little margin for error ahead of a day off before a decisive Wednesday.

They will take on the USA in the morning, with the Americans currently sitting in second place, before their last two matches against Japan and Italy, the bottom two teams in the table.

And while their position looks precarious, Morrison knows that she only gets better as a competition develops, meaning that their best form is just around the corner.

She said: “We’ve got to come back in a couple of days and try and get some more wins on the board.

“We do thrive under pressure. You never know what could happen, we know it’s not over yet, we’ve got to keep fighting.

“We’ve got a day off tomorrow, so we will just relax and take some time for ourselves and come back fighting in a couple of days’ time because we can do this.”
