U.S. Supreme Court finds Trump overstepped authority in imposing tariffs under emergency law

Private businesses, states challenged Trump
The original case had two sets of plaintiffs: private businesses who said they’d been harmed by tariffs, as well as 12 U.S. states — Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Maine, Minnesota, Nevada, New Mexico, New York, Oregon and Vermont — that argued the tariffs are unlawful.
Learning Resources Inc., an Illinois-based company that sells educational toys, and V.O.S. Selections, a New York-based wine importer, led the challenge brought by private businesses.
