Michelle Keegan, since rising to fame on Coronation Street and Brassic, has turned into a complete fashion icon, as she somehow always strikes the perfect balance between timeless styles and staples and something a little trendier – she is constantly just ahead of the curve.
However, one aspect of her style that is often overlooked is her gorgeous brunette hair, until now. Taking to her Instagram stories on Friday, 20 February, the 38-year-old shared a picture of her overhauled hair, and she’s taken inspiration from one of TV’s greatest style muses.

In the caption of her post, she wrote: “In my Rachel era,” referring to Jennifer Aniston’s famous character on Friends, Rachel Green, whose hairstyles became a staple of the series. The star’s curtain bangs, face-framing layers and glossy bounce became a source of hair inspiration globally.
Michelle’s latest look is a departure from the style she’s been rocking over the last year, especially thanks to the bangs, which contour the Our Girl star’s face.

Michelle Keegan’s mum hair
Another reason it marks a move for the mother-of-one is that she’s typically been going for understandably lower-maintenance styles since welcoming her daughter, Palma, last year. The ‘Rachel Green’ hair
Though the layers, fringe and slightly-longer-than-a-bob look are major parts of the ‘Rachel Green’ look, there’s one crucial difference between Jennifer and Michelle: the Brassic star has stayed brunette.
That being said, it sounds like Jennifer hasn’t completely dismissed the idea of dying her hair brown herself: she recently joked about whether she would ever go brunette, in a promotional video with Friends co-star Courtney Cox, and we spoke to the experts about how they thought she would look with brunette hair.

Tina Mehmi, a hair colourist at RUSH, shared her take with HELLO!, telling us: “I think Jennifer Aniston would really suit being a brunette! I can envision her with a gorgeous, creamy chocolate brown base with golden highlights blended throughout – of course paying homage to her beachy blonde hue that we all love.
“A darker shade would harmonise beautifully with her olive skin tone and golden undertones, making her baby blue eyes really pop! I think she should experiment with it in the future!” she added.
