Winter Olympics 2026 ski mountaineering: France’s Emily Harrop and Thibault Anselmet combine to win mixed relay gold

France’s Emily Harrop and Thibault Anselmet made history after winning the first-ever Olympic mixed relay gold in ski mountaineering on Saturday, 21 February.
Skimo individual gold medals had evaded the French pair on Thursday, but Harrop – who won women’s sprint silver – and men’s sprint bronze-medallist Anselmet combined for a time of 26:57.4 to beat Switzerland’s Marianne Fatton and Jon Kistler (+11.9) at Milano Cortina 2026.
Spain’s Ana Alonso Rodriguez and Oriol Cardona Coll (+26.5) finished third at the Stelvio Ski Centre, adding further Olympic medals to their collection.
There was a three-second penalty for sprint bronze-medallist Rodriguez, but that was not enough to deny her and men’s champion Cardona Coll the bronze, earning Spain a third medal of these Games – their best-ever haul at a Winter Olympics.
