Fofana: ‘Our mentality is top because the manager comes with a new mentality’ | News | Official Site

Wesley Fofana talks in depth about the team’s approach under Liam Rosenior, developing an understanding with his team-mates and what makes the perfect centre-back partnership in a wide-ranging interview in the matchday programme for today’s game against Burnley.

The Frenchman has seen an uptick in intensity on the field and has contributed to a couple of goals in recent weeks with his preference for playing on the front foot.

‘We are working well and the mentality is top because the manager comes with a new mentality – a little bit more aggressive when we’ve got the ball. The team understands that and we’re working well,’ he says. ‘We’re in a good way for the rest of the season.

‘It’s a little bit more direct, the tempo is a little bit more high. Without the ball as well, we try to put a lot of intensity into it to recover the ball quickly.’

While Fofana looks at defensive lines and hopes for the future, we also find time to reflect on one of the greatest attacking talents in the club’s history.

This is our last game before the 20th anniversary of Peter Osgood’s passing and our Legacy feature focuses on how a talented lad from Windsor became the King of Stamford Bridge after rising to prominence at the height of the Swinging Sixties.

Meanwhile, this weekend’s Over Land & Sea feature takes a look at the impact made by Belgian players at Chelsea, concentrating above all on Eden Hazard and his unmatched creative talents.

On top of that, there’s all the info you need ahead of the big game with Burnley, plus the latest from around the club with regular columns from Liam Rosenior, Reece James, Sonia Bompastor and our Academy coaches.
