The Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games are ending with a bang.Saturday will be the penultimate day of competition, and will have plenty on the line, with 10 gold medals up for grabs.Amongst those in medal contention are Team GB athletes looking for Olympic glory, with the men’s curlers chasing their first gold in 124 years.
Sliding for gold
The main medal hopefuls for Team GB on Saturday are the men’s curling team, who are on a magical run through the competition.
Bruce Mouat’s rink came out with the victory in a topsy-turvy semifinal against Switzerland on Thursday to book their spot in the gold medal match.

They missed out on gold four years ago in Beijing, but this time around, they could become world and Olympic champions on Saturday when they face Canada at 18:05 UK time – live on TNT Sports and discovery+.
For the four-man team, it’s been “four years of hurt” and these Games offer them the chance at redemption.
“That silver’s not sat well with us and to get the chance to redeem ourselves is kind of what’s driven us, and hopefully we can go deliver on Saturday,” Grant Hardie told TNT Sports.
Former Team GB curler Vicki Chalmers explained on TNT Sports that Saturday’s final is the result of plenty of hard work.
“It’s not unfamiliar territory to the boys, and they’ve made it clear from four years ago that they were not happy with their silver medal,” Chalmers said.
“They’ve come to this Olympic Games wanting that gold medal and that is the only colour they want, and they’re going to do everything to win that gold medal.”
McMillan ready to finish business in primetime
Hammy McMillan said Team GB have “unfinished business” at the Winter Olympics ahead of the final, and hoped his team would produce a “primetime” finish to the penultimate day of Milano Cortina 2026.
The quartet of McMillan, Mouat, Grant Hardie and Bobby Lammie missed out on gold at Beijing 2022 in heartbreaking fashion, as the final went to an extra end and Sweden scored one to win the medal every athlete desires.
This time, Canada are Team GB’s foes, looking to improve on their bronze four years ago. Their team features Marc Kennedy, who was at the centre of the ‘double touch’ controversy, and won gold at Vancouver 2010.
Ahead of the match, affable British lead McMillan spoke to TNT Sports, reliving the tense final moments of the semi-final and explaining why his team are so motivated to strike gold in Cortina.
“That [the last shot against Switzerland] was do or die, completely 100%,” McMillan said. “Bruce actually wanted to play a draw and the three of were like ‘no mate, you’ve got to make this’.
“Since that Olympic final in 2022, our goal has been to get back to another final because we feel like there’s unfinished business in the Olympic Games, so close last time in 2022 in Beijing, so the strategy for us is to go out and enjoy it.
“We won’t start with the last stone, we have got to flip that hammer early, try and control the scoreboard, and at the end of the day, hopefully Bruce has got a shot for us to win that gold medal.
“Hopefully we’ve captured you, we love you guys, seen all the messages and the amazing support. It’s primetime Saturday night TV.”

Final day medal hopes
If you are unable to watch Saturday’s action, there are Team GB medal hopefuls on Sunday too.
Zoe Atkin is one of the star attractions, after the women’s freeski halfpipe final was rescheduled from Saturday due to poor weather. It will now start at 9:40 UK on Sunday.
TNT Sports expert James Woods billed the competition as “Zoe Atkin versus Eileen Gu,” and Atkin looked imperious in qualifying as she topped the scoresheets with an incredible opening run of 91.50.

Gu is the reigning champion in the event and has already claimed two silver medals at Milano Cortina 2026 to add to her two golds and a silver from Beijing 2022, though she only qualified in fifth place.
“At the end of the day, they are way up there, taking mad risks,” Woods added. “If you are not fully invested and enjoying it, it is going to be so hard to perform. Zoe is ticking every single box right now.”
Team GB are also optimistic for success in the men’s four-man bobsleigh where a sled led by veteran Brad Hall – who is joined by Greg Cackett, Leon Greenwood and Taylor Lawrence – will aim to upset the apple-cart.
Hall, who has competed at the last two Winter Olympics with a best-place finish of sixth in four-man bobsleigh in Pyeongchang, and his team face a stiff test to overcome the German juggernauts who have dominated in recent years.
Saturday saw Hall and his teammates compete in the first two heats, with Team GB sitting in seventh at the halfway point of the competition.
In their first two runs, they combined for a total time of 1:49.43, just 0.82 seconds behind the German team led by driver Johannes Lochner, and 0.23 seconds behind the bronze spot.
As many predicted, the three German teams occupy all three medal spots.
