Iowa women’s basketball hosting 2027 5-star PF recruit vs Michigan

As No. 12 Iowa women’s basketball (21-5, 12-3 Big Ten) returns to Carver-Hawkeye Arena to celebrate “Senior Day” on Feb. 22 with a high-profile matchup against No. 5 Michigan (22-4, 13-2 Big Ten), the Hawkeyes will be hosting highly coveted 2027 five-star power forward recruit Nation Williams on an official vist.

The 6-foot-2 native of Las Vegas, Nev., currently stars for Centennial High School and is ranked as the No. 10 overall prospect, No. 1 power forward, and No. 1 player in the state, according to 247Sports’ Composite ranking for the 2027 recruiting class.

For Centennial this season, Williams is averaging 17.3 points on 54% shooting, 50.0% from 3-point territory, and 68% from the free-throw line, to go along with 10.4 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 2.8 steals, and 1.5 blocks per contest through 24 games played, according to MaxPreps.

In addition to her high school accolades, Williams recently won a gold medal at the 2025 FIBA U16 AmeriCup.

While Iowa offered Williams back in June 2024, she has received offers from 20 other programs, including South Carolina, Baylor, Louisville, Notre Dame, and Big Ten foes UCLA, Wisconsin, Rutgers, Maryland, Michigan State, Oregon, Washington, and Wisconsin.

Most recently, Williams took an official visit with the Bruins on Feb. 5.

According to the Des Moines Register’s Dargan Southard, Williams is the only recruit making an official visit for the Hawkeyes this weekend. However, the program will host at least 8 other prospects at Carver-Hawkeye Arena for unofficial visits during the Top 15 matchup against the Wolverines.

Currently, the only commitment to the Hawkeyes’ 2027 recruiting class is top-ranked Wisconsin combo guard Jada Seubert.

Given the electric atmosphere that will fill Carver-Hawkeye Arena this weekend for the Hawkeyes’ matchup against the Wolverines, the program hopes it will help propel Iowa to the top of Williams’ list as she continues her recruitment process.

Iowa and Michigan will tip off from Carver-Hawkeye Arena at 11 a.m. CT on Sunday, Feb. 22, with the game being broadcast on FOX.
