Alysa Liu on her journey and her art – “I want to share that creative process”

Alysa Liu on how figure skating is like painting
A big part of that new audience, Liu hopes, is the chance she now has to “show off my artistic ideas,” she said. Her creativity, she told Olympics.com earlier this season, is what she wants to be known for the most.
It’s everything from program packaging to her costumes. In the women’s singles event, Liu unveiled two new dresses across her short and long programs, both of which were a re-invention of her previous garb.
“I’m really big into fashion; I have my own sense of style for sure,” she said. “I have input in my figure skating dresses… and I wanna share that creative process, as well.
“I’m very proud of” it all, she said of the artistic side of her skating.
Liu was especially excited for the Olympic gala, which took place Saturday (21 February) night and gave her the chance to debut a new program, set to “Stateside” by PinkPantheress featuring Zara Larsson.
“The gala is a whole other stage,” Liu said, smiling.
“It’s like giving an artist four different paintings. They can showcase four different paintings. I have so many different skills that I want to show off and artistic ideas… and I get another chance to do just that.”
What tapestry will Liu paint on next? At this moment, that appears up to her.
