Police have reported a motorist after two boys were left in hospital following a collision at a busy city junction. Cops and paramedics had been sent to Weston Coyney following reports of a collision involving a car and two young cyclists.
The incident, at the junction of Weston Road and Park Hall Road, left two boys, aged 10 and 13, in the Royal Stoke University Hospital. Now Staffordshire Police have confirmed a 29-year-old man, of Colchester, has been reported for driving without due care and attention.
The collision occurred at around 4.45pm on Sunday – with the road blocked until around 6.25pm.
A spokeswoman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “We were called on Sunday to a road traffic collision involving a car and two cyclists at the junction of Weston Road and Park Hall Road in Weston Coyney. One ambulance attended the scene. Upon arrival we found two male children who were the cyclists. The two children were assessed by ambulance staff and had sustained injuries not believed to be serious. They were conveyed to the Royal Stoke University Hospital for further assessment.”
A spokeswoman for Staffordshire Police said: “We were called following reports of a collision. Two boys, aged 10 and 13, were involved in a collision with a car. They were assessed by paramedics at the scene and taken to hospital for further treatment. Their injuries are not believed to be serious. The driver of the car, a 29-year-old man, from Colchester, remained at the scene and has been reported for driving without due care and attention. Our inquiries are continuing. Anyone with information, CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage should contact us.”
