The Vancouver Canucks are scratching defenseman Tyler Myers on Wednesday for “roster management purposes,” they announced ahead of their game against the Winnipeg Jets.
The Canucks presented Myers with a potential trade Monday and he’s taking his time to consider it, reports TSN’s Darren Dreger.
The 36-year-old is signed through 2026-27 at a $3-million cap hit. He owns a full no-movement clause.
Myers has one goal and eight points in 57 games this season, and he’s last among Canucks rearguards with a minus-25 rating. His 91 blocks are second on the team, and he’s averaging 20:13.
Vancouver is at the bottom of the NHL with an 18-33-6 record. The Canucks have already traded star defenseman Quinn Hughes and forward Kiefer Sherwood this season.
Myers has played for Vancouver since 2019. The 6-foot-8 blue-liner has accumulated 100 goals and 403 points in 1,123 career games with the Buffalo Sabres, Winnipeg Jets, and Canucks.
The trade deadline is March 6 at 3 p.m. ET.
