Oilers’ Tristan Jarry pulled in first game after Olympic break

Tristan Jarry’s return from the Olympic break didn’t go according to plan.
The Edmonton Oilers pulled the veteran goalie in the third period of Wednesday’s 6-5 loss to the Anaheim Ducks after he allowed five goals on 25 shots.
The Oilers led 2-0, 4-2 and 5-4 in the game but squandered all three leads before Connor Ingram replaced Jarry. Cutter Gauthrier then beat Ingram for the game-winning goal with just over one minute to play in regulation.
“Obviously I wasn’t happy with the goaltending, the goals that we gave up, especially in the third period, I didn’t like those,” head coach Kris Knoblauch said after the game. “Definitely, there was other mistakes there but part of it is you need better goaltending and tonight wasn’t one of his best games.”
Jarry was acquired by the Oilers from the Pittsburgh Penguins in December but he has struggled with his new team. Entering the Ducks game, Jarry had a .869 save percentage in 11 appearances with the Oilers. He also missed time with a lower-body injury in late December.
“I think every game you want to try to keep the puck out of your net,” Jarry said. “If I can do a better job just keeping the puck out I think we have a better chance.”
The Oilers also lost forward Mattias Janmark to an undisclosed injury against the Ducks. Janmark didn’t see the ice after the first period.
With the win, the Ducks moved on point ahead of the Oilers for second in the Pacific Division.
