The education minister says he is aware of problems with the PA system at New World Island Academy in Summerford, which has not been working since the start of the school year.
Parents are concerned, calling it a safety issue, with no way to summon students to the office, or inform students and staff in the event of an emergency.
Minister Paul Dinn agrees and says Transportation and Infrastructure has identified a contractor to make the appropriate repairs. The issue is getting them there.
He says Transportation and Infrastructure is working on getting them to the school to repair or replace the system. “There is a solution; it’s just implementing it.”
