Avalanche at Nakiska ski hill sends youth to hospital in critical condition

A youth skier was rushed to hospital in life‑threatening condition Friday afternoon after an avalanche at Nakiska Ski Resort.
Emergency crews were called to the hill at 12:49 p.m. after reports of an avalanche involving two skiers.
One skier managed to dig themselves out and move away from the slide area, but the second skier could not, according to RCMP.
Emergency crews were able to find both individuals, with the second skier, a youth, found unresponsive.
The unresponsive youth was rushed to Alberta Children’s Hospital in Calgary in critical and life‑threatening condition, according to EMS. The other skier was uninjured.
