Rangers continue domination over Guelph in tight Wednesday win

Your Kitchener Rangers continued their domination over the Guelph Storm on Wednesday night with a close-fought 5-4 win.
The forward tandem of Christian Humphreys and Dylan Edwards combined for 7 points on the night and were instrumental in retaking the lead from Guelph late in the third period.
Speaking with 570 NewsRadio during the postgame interview, Humphreys said Edwards is always a fun player to play with.
“I think the goal is just trying to get pucks on net,” said Humphreys. “I think we kind of talked about it: the goalie’s not good with traffic tonight, obviously a younger kid so, you know, we want to shoot as many pucks as we can on him, but he played really well tonight for the most part and we had two great tips from Eddie so it was big for us.”
With 4 points on the night, Humphreys moved himself into third place in league scoring.
But it’s the team record that counts the most. The Rangers solidified their spot atop the Western Conference in the win, and hold a four-point lead over the Flint Firebirds as of Thursday morning.
Rangers forward Sam O’Reilly, who has impressed since joining the Blueshirts, played only eight seconds of the contest after an early fight with Storm defenceman Quinn Beauchesne earned the pair a match penalty.
Next up for the Blueshirts is a pair of games at The Aud this weekend, starting with a visit from the Brampton Steelheads on Friday night.
