A nurse from Quebec’s Capitale-Nationale region is celebrating a life-changing win after claiming the $5 million Classic Jackpot in the Feb. 18 draw of Lotto 6/49.
Stefanie Pepin purchased her winning ticket online and learned of her prize through a voicemail from Loto-Québec. After logging into her account to confirm the news, she recalls thinking, “It’s a good start to the day!” upon seeing the $5,000,000 balance.
Despite the windfall, Pepin returned to the hospital to care for a patient shortly after discovering her win, a reflection, she says, of how much she values her profession. The nurse plans to take time to consider her next steps but says she intends to spoil her loved ones.
While the jackpot brings new opportunities, Pepin says she has no plans to leave the career she loves.
