Chris Wood scored 20 goals for Nottingham Forest last season, and his absence through injury has been sorely felt this term.
The New Zealand striker hasn’t played for Forest since October with a knee injury that required surgery, sidelining him.
In his absence, Igor Jesus and Lorenzo Lucca are tasked with scoring goals for Forest, but between them, they have just three goals during the 2025/26 campaign.
Is THIS the Nottingham Forest team to overcome Brighton on Sunday?
Would you make any changes?
Taiwo Awoniyi has scored once in a win over Brentford, but he’s not been in a matchday squad since Sean Dyche departed as the club’s head coach.
Now, with just 11 games of the season left to play, some information has come to light on Wood and when he might return to the fold for Forest.

When Chris Wood will return from injury for Nottingham Forest
With the World Cup on the horizon, Wood is needed back on the pitch to help club and country in the coming months.
His presence is sorely missed in the Forest team, and it’s frustrating each week to watch other strikers miss chances that he would gobble up.
Now, the New Zealand Herald has claimed that Wood is on track to return to action in April, with the final six games of the season bookmarked for the striker to take part in.
A return is badly needed, and the All Whites will be monitoring him extremely closely as they look to finalise their plans for the World Cup in the summer.
Forest’s final six games of the season feature a number of big games, with the visit of his former club, Burnley, likely to be the game where he returns to action at the City Ground.
Pereria was asked about Wood in his pre-Brighton press conference and said he’s ‘working hard’ behind the scenes to get back to where he needs to be fitness wise.
Alarming Wood stat emerges for Forest
No Forest striker has scored a goal in the Premier League at the City Ground since Wood on the opening day of the campaign.
That stat is alarming to say the very least, and it’s important that people step up in his absence to drag Forest over the line to avoid relegation.
Wood proved to be a natural goalscorer last season and not having him spearheading the attack this season has been detrimental to the season.
Thankfully, his recovery is now cranking up and hopefully, the season can end with Wood scoring the required goals to keep the Reds in the Premier League before jetting off to the World Cup.
