Alex Bowman enters COTA needing a good points day in 2026

Alex Bowman enters the NASCAR weekend at Circuit of the Americas needing a great points day. After wrecking in the first two races of the 2026 NASCAR Cup Series season, Bowman sits 32nd in the point standings with 18 points behind Christopher Bell. The Hendrick Motorsports driver is 27 points behind the Chase bubble.
Luckily for the No. 48 team, it is only the third event of the 26-race regular season. Bowman has run well at COTA in the past, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see him build some momentum this weekend. After all, the driver of the No. 48 car has worked on his road course racing, and it has paid off.
Bowman has plenty of time to turn his season around, but it hasn’t been a great start. Granted, the first two races were superspeeedway tracks at Daytona International Speedway and EchoPark Speedway, but every point matters. If Bowman wants to gain some momentum, COTA is the perfect race to earn that opportunity.
