Diogo Jota’s wife, Rute Cardoso, has shared a family update as she enjoys time in Phuket, Thailand, with her three children. She shared three children with her husband, two sons and a daughter.

Jota and his younger brother Andre Silva died in a car crash in Spain on July 3 2025. The Liverpool forward had been travelling with his brother in the Zamora region of Sanabria when the tragic crash happened. His brother was playing for Portuguese second division side, Penafiel at the time.

Rute shared several snaps to her Instagram account of the family trip away. One picture showed her children in a swimming pool, another was a selfie of Rute and others were of eldest son, Dinis, wearing a Liverpool kit with Jota’s number 20 on the back.

The family were in Hong Kong over the weekend, as Rute revealed a touching gift that she received while in the region. In a video posted to social media, Rute could be seen flicking through a book of condolences with each page filled with messages and hand-drawn pictures in tribute to her late husband.

Alongside the drawings of the Portuguese international, one message read: “Thanks for everything Diogo, rest easy mate, in loving memory the lad from Portugal”. Others referenced his shirt number and his iconic song.

After the latest update, family and friends sent messages to Rute. Larissa Peereira, the wife of former Liverpool player Roberto Firmino, posted: “Lindos dé mais,” which translates to “so beautiful” in Portuguese.

Further responses included: “Beautiful children enjoying their holidays” and “Have a beautiful time with your babies, stay safe and strong, take all the pictures you can. You are a beautiful mama.”

Last month, Rute shared a tribute to her husband on Valentine’s Day, February 14. She shared a picture alongside her husband, to the song “If I would have known” by Kyle Hume. In December, Rute and her family returned to Anfield as Jota’s former sides, Liverpool and Wolves went head-to-head.

She shared a post on Instagram to share her appreciation to the club after the couple’s two sons, Dinis and Duarte, were mascots. She said: “From the bottom of my heart, thank you to the club and to all the fans for the love, respect and support shown during this incredibly difficult time. Your messages and gestures have meant more than words can express.”
