South Africa’s Jansen (55*) and Stubbs (29) added 73 runs for the sixth wicket in the T20 World Cup 2026 semifinal match against New Zealand in Kolkata.

South Africa are taking on New Zealand in the first semifinal of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 on Wednesday (March 4). In the fixture taking place at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, South Africa posted a total of 169 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their quota of 20 overs. For South Africa, fast bowling all-rounder Marco Jansen played an unbeaten knock of 55 runs from 30 balls, and Tristan Stubbs scored 29 runs from 24 balls. Apart from them, Dewald Brevis hammered 34 runs from 27 balls as a No. 4 batter after New Zealand skipper Mitchell Santner invited the Proteas to bat first.
During his stay at the crease in Kolkata on Wednesday, Jansen smashed 2 fours and 5 sixes for South Africa and added 73 runs from 47 balls for the sixth wicket with Stubbs, who smacked 2 fours and 1 six.
The stand of 73 runs by Jansen and Stubbs in the first semifinal helped them break the record of the highest partnership for the sixth wicket or lower in T20Is for South Africa.
The record of the previous highest sixth-wicket stand in a T20I match for the Proteas was in the name of Stubbs and Patrick Kruger. In the T20I match played against the West Indies in Tarouba on August 23, 2024, Patrick Kruger and Stubbs added 71 runs in 8.1 overs.
