Michelle Keegan just upped the drama in copycat Pretty Woman dress

Michelle Keegan is a busy woman. The actress has been filming overseas this year and taking care of her almost one-year-old daughter, Palma, with her husband, Mark Wright.

The 38-year-old has also found the time to release a new collection with Very, and it has a distinctive summer feel. Drawing inspiration from the relaxed elegance of Southern France, the collection features key SS26 trends, from pastels to polka dots.

From a fashion editor’s perspective, I think her timeless polka dot dress was the gem of the collection. The ‘Cape Maxi’ features a scooped neckline, slim straps, a ruched waist and a cape, which can be worn draped over the shoulders or down the back.

It reminded me of the brown, polka-dot dress that Hollywood royalty Julia Roberts famously donned as Vivian in Pretty Woman. Light and airy, Michelle’s latest look was a modern twist on Vivian’s polo outfit, with the cape set to be a big trend for 2026.

Polka dots – the dopamine trend

It’s easy to see why many describe the humble polka dot as a fashion unicorn – it’s both trendy yet timeless; a fashion hybrid. The playful print has been a staple for decades, popularised by everyone from Disney’s Minnie Mouse to Marilyn Monroe.

Polka dots are an ongoing fashion trend

Brown and white polka dots are a great colourway for spring, and the high street has a plethora of different cuts to suit all shapes. This long-sleeve number by Nobody’s Child has a statement collar and on-trend balloon sleeves, and this New Look dress has flutter-sleeve detail and is an easy, ‘throw on and go’ style that would be ideal for the office.

Michelle’s fashion ethos

Although she loves to dress up from time to time, Michelle has always maintained that her fashion ethos prioritises comfort. “There’s so much pressure on people to follow trends and wear clothes they don’t feel particularly comfortable in just to either fit in or feel cool,” she told Women’s Health in 2024. “Just wear clothes that make you feel confident!”

Michelle has said that comfort is key for her when it comes to fashion

Speaking about her own wardrobe, the Manchester-born star likes to invest in capsule pieces that will stand the test of time. “A good pair of jeans that you can wear day to night and with trainers or heels,” she remarked when asked about her wardrobe essentials. “Once I get a good pair of jeans, I’ll probably have them for years. I can’t throw them away. And you have to have a good coat or two. I’d say invest in a nice winter coat and a spring bomber jacket ready to go into those warmer months,” she explained.
