A.J. Brown trade talks: Eagles want first-rounder and more for WR in ‘Quinnen Williams-type deal’

As always, the starting point in trade discussions isn’t ultimately where things could eventually end.

Garafolo added that the Brown situation is affecting how the Eagles are budgeting for free agency. A trade now would trigger significant dead money for Roseman to deal with (more than $40 million). Waiting until after June 1 would lessen the issue — of course, waiting wouldn’t bring them draft capital to use now.

With a host of free agents, including tight end Dallas Goedert, how things play out in the next week with Brown could determine how active Philly is in free agency.

At this stage, the Eagles remain in a waiting pattern to see if any club will meet their offer. If nothing materializes before free agency, that doesn’t mean the chatter about the receiver will dissipate as we head toward the 2026 NFL Draft in late April.
