Lamar Odom Relives His Near-Death Overdose in New Docuseries

Lamar Odom is alive. He has not died. He did not die. So why did the title of a new docuseries episode about his life make me think that I forgot an important detail about Odom’s legacy? Untold: The Death & Life of Lamar Odom follows the life of the very much still-alive former Lakers star and his near-death experience in 2019. The trailer begins with a 911 call where someone found Odom unconscious outside of a brothel in Nevada. “I had 12 strokes and six heart attacks. That’s not no average shit,” he explains. Featuring interviews from Odom; his ex-wife, Khloé Kardashian; and the former manager of the brothel he visited called the Love Ranch, the episode revisits the night that put Odom in the hospital. It includes a clip of the athlete saying, “That first hit of cocaine was amazing” while he imitates snorting a line, followed by Kardashian sharing how she felt a responsibility to cover up his drug use to “protect him.”
Untold is a four-episode docuseries that follows four standalone stories about insane moments in sports, such as the 2024 chess match between Hans Niemann and Magnus Carlsen. Directed by Ryan Duffy, the first episode featuring Lamar Odom premieres on March 31.
