‘The Gilded Age’ Season 4 Plot Revealed, Jim Gaffigan Joins Cast

EXCLUSIVE: HBO‘s The Gilded Age continues to build its Season 4 cast with four new additions and one promotion.
Kelley Curran, who has played Enid “Turner” Winterton on the series since Season 1, has been upped to a series regular for Season 4. Additionally, Jim Gaffigan (Chappaquiddick), Dallas Roberts (Walk the Line), Elizabeth Marvel (Presumed Innocent), and Andrew Burnap (Snow White) have joined as guest stars.
They join the returning cast of Carrie Coon, Morgan Spector, Louisa Jacobson, Denee Benton, Cynthia Nixon, Christine Baranski, Harry Richardson, Blake Ritson, Taissa Farmiga and Audra McDonald.
The official Season 4 logline has also been revealed: Bertha Russell (Coon) changed Society at a cost. Now, her family must reckon with the consequences as Agnes van Rhijn (Christine Baranski) seizes an opportunity to regain her position. Meanwhile, Marian (Louisa Jacobson) forges a new path for herself and Peggy (Denée Benton) works to be accepted by her future in-laws. In this new era, you must be careful what you wish for.
There is a lot to dissect in the logline, specifically the part about the Russells. The family has been struggling immensely after so many years of what looked like success. All the pressure to be at the top has worn thin on Bertha and George (Spector), as was revealed in the final episode of Season 3. The couple appeared to be heading to divorce court, but there may still be time to turn things around. Berta has built an untouchable empire, at least that’s how it seems, so maybe she doesn’t need George as much as she needs divorced women not be shunned from society.
Also, Curran getting a promotion following a season where Oscar van Rhijn (Ritson) was sniffing around her character with the thought of a marriage of convenience on his mind is not to be overlooked. Lots of potential weddings in line for next season, Oscar and Turner, Marian and Larry (Richardson), and of course, Peggy and Dr. William Kirkland (Jordan Donica). We recently confirmed Donica was upped to series regular.
The new additions will play the following characters:
Gaffigan will play Grover Cleveland, the 22nd President of the United States, who comes to New York to curry favor with the elite class.
Roberts as Daniel Manning, a seasoned politician and Secretary of the Treasury under President Grover Cleveland.
Marvel as Nurse Virginia Saville, a kind nurse who works at the Neighborhood Settlement House in the Lower East Side.
Burnap as Porter, a young gentleman of Society with an Ivy League education and money to invest in exciting new ventures.
