WWE parts ways with longtime creative writer and Hall of Famer Road Dogg

WWE and Brian “Road Dogg” James have reportedly parted ways. Bodyslam reports that James is no longer with the top professional wrestling company. “Road Dogg” had been working behind the scenes since 2014 and served as the co-lead writer for the “Friday Night SmackDown” brand.
Fans online had long been critical of the lackluster storylines and lack of excitement on the “SmackDown” brand. WWE responded by calling up notable “NXT” stars, such as Trick Williams, who is positioned as a main event player early in his main roster run. Back in January, PWInsider reported that Ryan Ward is now overseeing the creative directions of both “Raw” and “SmackDown.”

Road Dogg Departs WWE Once Again
This isn’t the first time James and WWE have gone their separate ways. “Road Dogg” and Jeff Jarrett left WWE in July 1995, but James returned to the company the following year. He enjoyed the most success of his in-ring career as a member of the D-Generation X faction along with Paul “Triple H” Levesque, X-Pac, Billy Gunn, and Chyna.
Personal issues led to James’ release in early 2001. He debuted for TNA Wrestling the following year as B.G. James. He lasted in the promotion until his 2009 release. After making some sporadic appearances for WWE beginning in 2011, “Road Dogg” was firmly back with the company three years later as a producer and writer.
In 2019, James was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as a member of D-Generation X.
