Leigh Leopards head coach Adrian Lam has provided a fresh injury update on Bailey Hodgson.

The full-back went down awkwardly in the latter stages of Thursday’s 54-0 defeat to local rivals Wigan Warriors, with Lam stating post-match that there were fears of a PCL or even ACL injury after the player left the field in visible discomfort.

But Lam has now confirmed it’s the former of the two that Bailey has suffered – and even though his prognosis is around eight weeks out injured, it’s better news than an ACL blow that would have ruled him out for the rest of the 2026 season.

“There’s some positive news which we’re very grateful for and whilst it’s still long-term, it’s not as bad as first thought,” Lam said on Hodgson.

“He’s got a grade two tear on his PCL so that will be up to eight weeks out, plus, so we’re looking at two months for that. He’s in good spirits, he’s in a good place, and he’s out working as we speak and ripping in.”

Hodgson had been playing full-back in the absence of David Armstrong, who ruptured his ACL last season and is still recovering after a setback earlier this year. However, the Australian is nearing a comeback, with Lam suggesting the speedster could return to action within the next four weeks.

Leigh host Catalans Dragons on Friday night, looking to get back to winning ways after away defeats at St Helens and Wigan. They defeated Leeds Rhinos in the opening round.
