Amanda Holden issued a humorous response to a Heart Radio listener this week after he brought up Phillip Schofield. As part of the show’s celebrity name game, two contestants compete to mention as many celebrities as they can, using a given pair of initials as a cue.
During the game, a contestant named Ollie made Amanda cringe with his mention of her former co-star Phillip, from the initials P and S. Upon hearing his name, the 55-year-old retorted, laughing: “Oh, Ollie my favourite. Of all the names you could’ve come up with, Patrick Swayze, Ollie, at least!”.
Amanda’s reaction comes just days after Phillip was mentioned live on-air again by her co-host Jamie Theakston. Ahead of The Brit Awards last weekend, the Britain’s Got Talent judge and Jamie were joined by host Jack Whitehall.
During their conversation, she asked him if he’d be wearing a “snappy pair of socks” like his father, to which he quipped: “I’m not going to go too jazzy with the socks, you never want to be upstaged by a sock.”
Following his response, she commented: “Well, Jamie, I rest my case.” Baffled by her remark, her co-presenter replied: “What are you talking about? Children’s television? That wasn’t me, that was Phillip Schofield.”

In reply, she chuckled: “Oh god, please, let’s not mention that name on air, it’s a family show!”.
Amanda and Phillip’s apparent rift traces back to 2018 – four years after they co-hosted This Morning together. When the chance emerged to cover for Holly Willoughby once more, reports suggested he “actively campaigned” for Rochelle Humes to stand in for his co-presenter, rather than Amanda.
Nevertheless, an ITV spokesperson later dismissed the reports, stating that presenter choices lie entirely with producers. Phillip also addressed the speculation on social media, branding them as “hurtful and wildly untrue”.
While the Heart Radio presenter didn’t tackle the reports head-on at the time, she has been candid about her feelings towards him throughout the years. During a playful segment on Heart Radio in 2019 regarding three unwelcome items in her house, she quipped: “Spiders, flies and Phillip Schofield.”

Later, she revealed that she’d tried to organise a face-to-face chat with him over coffee but claimed he didn’t respond. When asked about her former colleague on the programme, Amanda confessed: “I did offer to meet him for a coffee months ago, he didn’t reply to my text. What can I say?”.
Jamie observed: “The olive branch had been extended,” to which she replied: “Oh, yes.”
While a reconciliation with Phillip isn’t anticipated in the near future, Amanda has made her return to television alongside her Britain’s Got Talent colleagues Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon and KSI for a fresh series.
Britain’s Got Talent continues tonight at 7pm on ITV and ITVX.
