Injury Reports for Rockets vs Spurs: Can Houston Pull Out a Win to Even the Season Series?

On Sunday, March 8th, the Houston Rockets (39-23) will travel a few hours west to play the San Antonio Spurs (46-17). This will be their final matchup of the regular season.

Thankfully we shouldn’t have too many players missing action tonight. Aside from Harrison Barnes, both teams look to have their main rotation of players available. I’d be surprised if Amen Thompson doesn’t start again in this game, despite being listed as questionable.
Questionable: Amen Thompson (right ankle sprain)

Out: Jae’Sean Tate (right knee sprain)
Out: Steven Adams (left ankle surgery)
Out: Fred VanVleet (right knee ACL repair)
Out: Tristen Newton (G League/Two-Way)
Out: Harrison Barnes (left ankle impingement)
Out: Mason Plumlee (reconditioning)
Out: David Jones-Garcia (right ankle surgery)
Out: Harrison Ingram (G League/Two-Way)
With Julian Champagnie already earning a starting role in recent weeks, Harrison Barnes wasn’t necessarily the biggest loss for them. They’re actually 3-0 against the Sixers, Pistons, and Clippers since Barnes went down. Not exactly slowing down.

Houston, on the other hand, hasn’t been doing quite as well. Coming off of a painful loss to the shorthanded Warriors, only to barely scrape out a win against Portland —— the Rockets could really use a nice win.
Expect to see Wemby guarding (or not guarding) Amen Thompson, which has really limited his effectiveness for Houston. Reed Sheppard shined in their lone win against the Spurs this season, and I predict that will be needed again if Ime and his team see the same defense.
