Hiker injured on Snowdon flown to Aintree hospital

Coastguard teams from Crosby and Southport were called into action last night after a hiker was injured while trekking on Snowdon. Both crews were tasked with setting up a landing site at the Joe Stone playing fields on Lower Lane, Fazakerley, as the coastguard helicopter came in to land near Aintree hospital.
A HM Coastguard Crosby spokesman said: “Yesterday evening our team and Southport Coastguard team were tasked to set up a landing site (HLS) at Joe Stone playing field. This was in order to facilitate Coastguard helicopter rescue 936 landing in order to bring an injured hiker from Snowdon for treatment.
“The team attended and secured the helicopter landing site and completed a Foreign Object Debris (FOD) check.
“Shortly after Rescue 936 landed and the patient was transferred into a waiting ambulance and taken to Aintree hospital for assessment and treatment. We wish the patient a speedy recovery.”
