Falcons predicted to sign $5M, 4-time Pro Bowler with 51 TDs to pair with Bijan Robinson

The Atlanta Falcons have received some intriguing news regarding their quarterback situation for the 2026–27 season. After several reports, recently released quarterback Tua Tagovailoa appears likely to sign with Atlanta.
“There was some buzz at the Combine about the Falcons interest in Tua with Penix’s return time up in the air. It makes sense to get a player that is on the minimum that has led the NFL in completion % and yards to be your spot starter and high level backup. Also Tua can use this time to revamp him as a player in the eyes of the league for 2027,” James Palmer of The Athletic wrote.
That move would solve one issue, but another could soon emerge at the backup running back position. Tyler Allgeier is expected to draw interest as a potential starter elsewhere.

One possible replacement for Allgeier is former Georgia Bulldogs football star Nick Chubb, who could serve as a strong complement behind Bijan Robinson.
“The Falcons don’t need a lead runner with Robinson already established as one of the NFL’s most explosive backs. What they need is the type of physical, downhill runner who can handle short yardage work, grind out tough carries, do work around the goal line, and keep Bijan’s legs fresh. There’s also familiarity with the coaching staff. New Falcons head coach Kevin Stefanski previously coached Chubb during their time together with the Cleveland Browns, and Stefanski has often spoken highly of the veteran running back,” Garrett Klaus of Blogging Dirty wrote.
Atlanta would likely welcome Chubb to the roster because of his veteran leadership, familiarity with the coaching staff, and downhill running style. A pairing of Robinson and Chubb could give the Falcons a dynamic one-two punch in the NFC.
While losing Allgeier would sting after his productive start to his career in Atlanta, bringing in a hometown-type player like Chubb could soften the blow. With a new coaching staff and front office in place, the Falcons appear determined to make this offseason a significant one.
