The Danhausen curse is becoming a real thing, folks.
It was a bit before, that it didn’t work, and therefore didn’t matter, and now it seems WWE is leaning into the comedy character as a legitimate threat because he’s cursing guys left and right and they are suffering great misfortune in the immediate aftermath of it. That was the case last week, when he cursed Dominik Mysterio just before he lost his Intercontinental championship. This week, he cursed the Original El Grande Americano for not wanting to work with him.
The result? He didn’t even get to wrestle for the Intercontinental championship like he was supposed to!
Instead, El Grande Americano was the one who came out to throw hands with Penta on Monday Night Raw this week. He lost, of course, but he wasn’t even supposed to be there. Penta tried to tell the referee as much, and commentary was in on the gag, but they went ahead with the match anyway.
Hey, this is the kind of thing that happens when Danhausen curses you.
