Francis Ngannou hopes MVP signing gets him ‘one step closer to knocking out Jake Paul’

Francis Ngannou recently shot down any talk of fighting Jake Paul, a disrespectful proposition that made no sense for an elite superstar like “The Predator.”

Then Ngannou got dumped by PFL and signed with MVP, the combat sports promotion co-founded by Paul. Now the former UFC heavyweight champion is treating “El Gallo” like the final boss, a prize for defeating Philipe Lins this May on Netflix.

“Hey guys, rumors are true,” Ngannou said in a video posted to social media. “I’m joining the Rousey vs. Carano MMA fight [card] on Netflix. I’ll be entering the cage against Philipe Lins from Brazil. MVP is the promoter. So, who knows? Maybe this means I’m one step closer to knocking out Jake Paul, too. But first things first: catch me on Saturday, May 16, on Rousey vs. Carano. Live only on Netflix.”

Paul, 29, may be done fighting heavyweights after this jaw-breaking disaster.

Ngannou’s return against Lins will be contested under MMA rules and serve as “The Predator’s” first fight since this laugher back in late 2024. The 40 year-old Lins has also been inactive since 2024, disappearing from the fight scene following his UFC 299 victory in Miami.

Once again, promoters are using Jon Jones to sell a Franny fight.

“The two baddest MMA heavyweight champions in the world are Francis Ngannou and Jon Jones,” Paul wrote on X. “One of them is now fighting on Saturday, May 16th, live on Netlfix. The lineal MMA heavyweight champion of the world Francis Ngannou vs Brazil’s Philipe Lins plus Rousey vs Carano.”

Ngannou (18-3) turns 40 in September.
