4:30 p.m. — Vikings insider says “resolution’ coming to Jonathan Greenard situation “in the next few days”

“The Greenard thing, we’ll probably have some resolution to that in the next few days,” the Star Tribune’s Ben Goessling said on Tuesday.

Greenard has been a popular name on the trade block as the Vikings look to clear up more cap space. Reports have indicated the Vikings would be willing to move on from the star pass rusher, due to Greenard’s desire for a new deal that better fits his market value. The Vikings likely aren’t in the situation to be able to dish out even more money to Greenard, considering their current cap situation and needs.

What the Vikings can get for a guy who’s coming off an injury-plagued 2025 season and with a desire for a new deal, is still up in the air. Current reporting suggests the team is looking for a Day 2 pick at minimum.

3:06 p.m. — NY reporter corroborates Vikings’ interest in Geno Smith

If the Jets had waited for him to be released at 4 p.m. Wednesday, they could’ve signed him for $1.3 million, the veterans minimum. But they would’ve faced competition for him. The Minnesota Vikings were known to be interested,” ESPN’s Rich Cimini said.

The Jets traded with the Raiders for Smith. What does Minnesota’s interest in Smith mean? It could be a matter of doing their due diligence, but it could indicate that they aren’t certain to land Kyler Murray once he’s released by the Cardinals on Wednesday.

1:48 p.m. — Mac Jones price ‘astronomical’

The word in the NFL world is that multiple teams have checked with the 49ers about trading for quarterback Mac Jones, but the asking price is allegedly “astronomical.” No word on whether the Vikings have called about Jones.

A few teams have called the San Francisco 49ers about QB Mac Jones, but many interested around the league describe their price as “astronomical.”

1:25 p.m. — Vikings allegedly had interest in Geno Smith

According to Jordan Schultz, the Vikings had “real interest” in Geno Smith before the Jets traded him prior to his expected release. How real was it? That’s unclear, but one might react to it by thinking the Kyler Murray steam isn’t as close to a done deal as most assume. We’ll see…

1:15 p.m. — Geno Smith comes off the board

The Raiders have traded Geno Smith to the Jets, returning the two-time Pro Bowl quarterback to the place where he began his NFL career. Las Vegas was expected to release Smith but instead landed a late-round pick swap for him. The Vikings were believed to be a potential landing spot for Smith if he were released. That’s obviously no longer an option.

11:17 a.m. — Minnesota is the “logical” landing spot for Kyler Murray

“I think [Minnesota is] the logical landing spot. Now, we’ll see what happens. You don’t know what other teams could step in. But yeah, if I were betting today, I would bet Minnesota,” Adam Schefter said on Tuesday.

Schefter noted that Minnesota continues to make sense as the most logical landing spot for Kyler Murray. He also talked about the hold up in Murray news, and why Arizona isn’t in a rush to fully release him. Schefter said that while Arizona isn’t expecting a team to come in with a trade, that could be part of their thinking in not releasing Murray yet, like the Dolphins did with Tua.

9:35 a.m. — Kyler Murray could take his time; QB competition with J.J. McCarthy looms?

“Don’t expect that it’s quite like Tua, where at 4:01 p.m. he’s released, and at 4:05 p.m. he’s got a new team. Kyler Murray has not had a chance to interface with many teams since he was back in the pre-draft process in 2019,” Tom Pelissero said Tuesday morning.

“Certainly, I anticipate there will be mutual interest between the Vikings and Kyler Murray. I would even say that the Vikings are the favorite for Kyler Murray, but this might take a day or two until we have something final,” Pelissero added.

Pelissero then reiterated a point he’s made many times that Murray in Minnesota will end up being a QB competition against J.J. McCarthy.

“If it is in Minnesota, we immediately get one of the fascinating quarterback competitions in the NFL for 2026, when it will be Kyler Murray, the former No. 1 pick, going up against the Vikings’ former first-round pick, J.J. McCarthy,” he said.

9:29 a.m. — It would be a “surprise” if Geno Smith doesn’t land back with the Jets

“The latest conversations I’ve had is that it would be a surprise, at this point, if Geno Smith is not signing with Jets, probably as soon as Wednesday at 4:01 p.m.,” The Athletic’s Zack Blatt said on Tuesday.

Smith, like Kyler Murray, has not yet been released by the Raiders. The veteran has been linked as a potential option for the Vikings this offseason. However, all signs continue to point to Murray landing with Minnesota.

9:05 a.m. — All-Pro long snapper stays with Vikings

Andrew DePaolo is staying with the Vikings on a one-year, $1.75 million contract, according to Adam Schefter.

The veteran long snapper is a three-time Pro Bowl selection and four-time All-Pro, having been named to the First Team in 2022 and 2024, and the Second Team in 2023 and 2025.

7:40 a.m. — Latest on Kyler Murray

Why was it so quiet in the Kyler Murray world on Monday? According to Arizona sports insider John Gambadora, Murray’s camp is simply playing by the rules. Despite widespread belief that he’ll be released, Murray isn’t allowed to talk with other teams until the Cardinals make an official announcement.

“Kyler Murray and his camp seem to be playing everything within the rules. Am told they will not discuss him with any other teams until he is officially released by the Cardinals. Could be why everything with him was so quiet today,” Gambadoro said late Monday night.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport said Tuesday morning that he still likes the Vikings as the favorite to sign Murray, “but until and unless the Arizona Cardinals go public with their plans to say goodbye to Kyler Murray, he is stuck in a little bit of a limbo situation.”

7:15 a.m. — Giants wanted Vikings’ Josh McCown

NFL Media’s Mike Garafolo allegedly said the Giants made an offer to Vikings passing game coordinator/QB coach Josh McCown to be their passing game coordinator, but the Vikings blocked it from happening. Garafolo also apparently said McCown interviewed with the Giants for their offensive coordinator job.

Well this is interesting.
