Laura Woods was left gobsmacked by Igor Tudor’s off-camera conduct after a frosty post-match interview with TNT Sports.

The interim Spurs chief had just endured the most shocking 90 minutes of his disastrous reign on Tuesday as Atletico Madrid’s 5-2 Champions League victory condemned him to a fourth loss in four matches.

The north London side shipped three goals inside the opening 15 minutes of their Champions League last-16 first-leg clash away at Atletico Madrid. Tudor, whose job was already hanging by a thread before kick-off, responded by hauling off keeper 22-year-old Antonin Kinsky immediately after the third strike.

Having been subjected to embarrassment, Kinsky thrown into the deep end for his first Champions League match for Spurs, received no recognition from his boss as the dejected shot-stopper trudged off the field and headed directly down the tunnel.

Tudor’s side were on the wrong end of a 5-2 thrashing due to a series of defensive blunders, though Pedro Perro and Dominic Solanke’s strikes ensured they still have hope of turning the tie around at the Tottenham Stadium on Tuesday.

After the match, former Juventus and Marseille boss Tudor was noticeably short with his responses. He seemed irritated during his post-match discussion with TNT Sports.

Host Woods indicated Tudor failed to even shake hands with the journalist questioning him as he departed from the frosty exchange – although the absence of a handshake wasn’t captured on camera.

Woods immediately commented: “Woah, that was a quick… I don’t even think there was a goodbye but we’ve seen tonight, he doesn’t really like saying goodbye to many people, does he?”.

“Straight down the tunnel after the game, no acknowledgement of the travelling fans. Look, he would rather not speak but questions need to continue to be asked and he must provide answers. He is the manager.”

During the interview, Tudor was questioned on whether he felt confident about reversing Spurs’ disastrous form. His response was: “I need to have [confidence]. I need to keep working, not speaking too much and staying focused on things we can do. It’s not the moment to explain too much, in this moment we need to stay calm and less talking is better.”

When probed on why things aren’t going well, he stated: “Better less talking. Now is not the moment to try to give big explanations.”

Pundit Joe Hart took umbrage with that, telling Woods: “How can your man who’s put in charge to steer Tottenham into a better direction not want to speak? What kind of message is he sending there?”.

“He’s sending no message to the players. Did he send a message to the fans? He said he apologised to them there but he didn’t acknowledge them in the stadium.”

Tudor seemed to neglect applauding the travelling supporters after the loss – an act often viewed as the bare minimum in English football.

The underfire Croat made the audacious decision to bench first-choice goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario following a disappointing spell of performances. Kinsky was given his first start since October, a move that spectacularly backfired as the Czech shot-stopper was culpable for two of the goals.
